Welcome to my development diary for "The City of..." a level design project.
This is focusing on an semi-open world city level with several buildings that the player can enter in each map.
I aimed at a 19th century steampunk setting and looked for assets to match.
The player is left behind during an evacuation of Varlant city due to an outbreak of Blue Plague and has to get through an area of a city to a secondary evacuation point before it leaves. The city civil defenses have been activated which include drones that will kill anything they see onsight.

While the player is going through the city, they'll pick up snippets of what happened in the city telling the story of the Blue Plague and how it arrived in the city.
I began to rearch urban planning and analysis to be able to get a better understanding of how to create this city map.
I will be separating each map into stages;
Blockout
Terrain
Water
Buildings (sealed)
Buildings (unsealed)
Story elements
Drones and their patrol patterns.
