The materials can be changed by creating a variant and changing the blend choke and blend crispyness and the colour.
When it come to the placement of the buildings I was getting bogged down with creating the buildings that can be entered and fitting the interiors. I decided to use the hollow variant of the buildings and then go back and removed ~50 buildings to design them so the player can enter them. To save time I may double up on some of the buildings.
NB:
The final stage will be the placement of plants, bodies and vehicles, adverts, posters, story elements and spawned objects like buildings, barriers and the bridges.
Story elements will be told in snipets from diaries, journals, posters, the dead, letters and graffitti.
The streets on the edges will be blocked off with barriers with "quarented" on it, but also there will be spawn barriers in the city itself made from carts, barrels, boxes and fires.
