I've finally settled on this map as the starting map. It is a merging of 6 maps I designed; the docks, the bridge and the main city area with (at this point) a mixture of slums, afluent housing and public buildings. The player is able to enter the buildings in red.
The map is 5,411.7 ft by 1,546.2 ft and covers an area of 8,367,570.54 ft²

I studied Urban planning, and architecture to see how the cities are laid out and level design to see how the city streets break up sight lines and offer different avenues to get to the same goal.lCl
Clear avenues of access are blocked with vehicles, fires, rubble and man made barriers forcing the player to go and find alternative routes through side streets and buildings.
The buildings are going to be a challenge due to the different styles and socioeconomic status of the owners and the contents. This may cause me to re-think the layout.
